Bereavement

Everyone's grief journey follows an individual path, as if they are walking through a forest. That path may have smooth sections, alternating with huge boulders to climb over and benches along the way for rest. Even when someone has been in the forest of mourning in the past, each loss is unique because each relationship is specific to the people engaged in it. Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions offers several options of support for people who are walking their Path of Grief.

  • Café Cares, a support group for surviving spouses and partners, meets monthly
  • An Eight Week Bereavement group, open for anyone who has had someone die, meets in the evening in the fall and on a weekday morning during the winter.
  • Kids' support is offered in the summer with a two-day camp and a group meets monthly during the school year. Group activities take place the second Saturday of the month at various locations in the community.
  • Empty Arms, Aching Hearts: A Grieving Parent's Support Group is open to any parent who has suffered the death of a child.
  • Options for Teen Support are being explored.
  • Individual and family grief counseling are also available on an appointment basis.

All bereavement services are free of charge and open to anyone in the community who has experienced a loss through death. Please visit the event calendar for specific dates or schedule changes. If you would like more information, for yourself or someone you know, please email the Bereavement Coordinator or call 577-4832.

And the organization is so well run and so appreciative of volunteers, that it’s a pleasure to be a volunteer. Hospice is, for volunteers, is a really rewarding place to put in your time, because not only the patients appreciate what you’re doing, but the organization appreciates it.
